It always puzzled me to some degree. My neighbor who is from Japan, tiniest lady I’ve ever seen, always had these huge babies. Now big babies can come from gaining a larger amount of weight during pregnancy as well as having obese mothers, etc. She was far from obese, even possibly being underweight, and she was never that big when pregnant. But somehow, she always ended up with these huge babies. She would breastfeed for a while. But as they got older, rather than ever giving them formula, which they say contributes to obesity, she would actually grind up fruits only for her kids by herself.
She would never actually put any sugar or extra anything in there and she wouldn’t buy it in the store, it was just the fruit. But somehow, up until the age of about 3 or 4, these kids would literally be wider than they were tall. It was ridiculous. I babysat a few times for her, and I had hard times lifting up these little kids that were supposed to be far smaller. At about the age of 3 or 4, they suddenly thinned out and became these little stick kids, which is what should have been considering what she was actually feeding them. And after that, they have always had really good habits because of her. But honestly speaking, I still can’t figure out how the obesity factor worked in their younger years.
