Now this is a bunch of bunk. But years ago, my friend who happens to be Navajo was talking to his doctor, and his cousin had recently used the method of getting his jaw wired shut for about 8 weeks to lose a lot of weight. It’s apparently supposed to shrink the stomach, because you can literally only have liquids and anything that can fit through a straw for that time period. He was grinding up peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which is just not really appetizing to say the least.
But that being said, there were rules and stipulations about milkshakes, smoothies, etc. His doctor at that time told him that apparently, basically he wanted to give him a way out. He told him that people in his family were used to in the past eating more in the summer and then starving in the winter, which would balance things out, even if they had eaten healthy amounts during the summer. This being said, he later ended up going on a diet, not eating all the fried foods all the time, and losing about 200 pounds. So obviously the whole making an excuse like that didn’t work. But honestly, I had to wonder why a legitimate doctor would really try to make that particular excuse.
