Eating Habits

September 21st, 2009

There are plenty of people I’ve known who have given their dogs certainly interesting things.  They thought that because they were good for humans they would be good for dogs.  The only human foods I give my dogs are unseasoned meats and carrots.  Carrots are really good for their eyes and otherwise, it helps their teeth as they chew on them.  But for example, chocolate which is not really good for people either, is actually quite deadly, especially for small dogs.

Likewise, one that is really good for humans is horrible for dogs. That’s grapes.  I learned the other day that my dad’s dog was under more dangerous pressure than I thought.  Granted with no regard for his own health, he has always like to swallow socks, eat chocolate, etc, and stupid mom let him in the past.  It occurred when she threw his ball upstairs, and he would go up and take a bit longer than he should, and then he would come back down with the ball.

So she would keep throwing it up there, and finally after the 10th time or so, she went up there to see what he was doing, and she found out he was grabbing one piece of chocolate out of this box be found, eating it, and then coming back down.  Sneaky dog.  But apparently, he always spit the grapes my sister tried to give him back out.  So lesson being, just because you think it’s good for you doesn’t mean it’s good for your dog.
